Black Metal' Short Film To Screen At 2013 Sundance Film Festival

"Black Metal", the newest short film from the creators of the "Hellion", will premiere at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.
"Black Metal" stars Jonny Mars ("Hellion", "Saturday Morning Massacre", "A Teacher"), Heather Kafka ("Texas Chainsaw Massacre", "Saturday Morning Massacre", "Joe"), Lowell Bartholomee and introduces Addisyn Stevenson. The film, produced by Kat Candler, Jonny Mars and Kelly Williams, was shot by Andrew Droz Palermo (cinematographer of "You're Next" and "A Teacher") and edited by Duane Graves (director of "The Wildman Of The Navidad" and "Boneboys").

Film synopsis: After a career spent mining his music from the shadows, the actions of one fan create a chain reaction for the lead singer of a black metal band.

"We're thrilled to be returning to Park City with our newest film, 'Black Metal'," the filmmakers state. "Sundance has been an amazing home to us this last year. We're so humbled by their support of our films and our careers."
The 2012 Sundance short "Hellion" went on to play over 40 festivals and is currently in development as a feature film partnered with the Sundance Institute. Kelly Williams, producer of "Hellion", "Black Metal" and Yen Tan's 2013 Sundance feature film "Pit Stop" was a 2012 Sundance creative producing lab fellow with the feature version of "Hellion".

"Black Metal" joins a "Texas Takeover" at Sundance this year with Yen Tan's "Pit Stop", Andrew Bujalski's "Computer Chess", David Lowery's "Ain't Them Bodies Saints", Richard Linklater's "Before Midnight", Shane Carruth's "Upstream Color", Jeff Nichols' "Mud" and Hannah Fidell's "Austin Shot A Teacher".
